You'll love making these cheese and bacon dog treats! They are a cinch to assemble, and dogs love them!
You can substitute melted bacon grease for the vegetable oil, if you have it on hand. Many of us don't, which is why I use the oil instead.
3/4 cup white flour
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 teas baking soda
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2/3 cup loose, not packed, brown sugar
1 teas vanilla extract
2/3 c. quick oats
3/4 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 c. real bacon bits
Combine both flours with the baking soda. In a separate bowl, mix together the oil, eggs, vanilla, & brown sugar.
Add flour mixture and blend well.
Stir in oats, cheese, and bacon bits.
Drop by rounded TBSP onto a cookie sheet. This recipe puffs up during baking, and the finished product may be larger, than you expect.
Bake at 350 degrees for 13 to 15 minutes.
