Duration of Kennel Cough

The exact duration of kennel cough depends upon several various factors.

Before becoming infected with this illness, the general everyday health of your dog, will play a major determining role in their recovery.

If their immune system was already weakened, then the length and severity of this virus, will be longer and harder, than it would be on a normally healthy dog.

The not yet fully developed immune system in young puppies can cause them to become more severely affected, as well as the same for older, senior Golden Retrievers.

Though most cases of kennel cough are mild, and resolve on their own within one to three weeks, a secondary, bacterial infection can arise.

If this occurs, it can take up to a couple of months before your dog becomes completely well.
